On 30 May 2016, regular meetings of the delegation representatives of the Canadian Bureau for International Education and the Canadian Bar Association with Ukrainian lawyers and representatives of lawyers’ self-government bodies took place in Kyiv and Odesa, as a part of the preparation of “The Tomorrow’s Lawyer” initiative.
On 26-28 May, a delegation of representatives from the Canadian Bureau for International Education and the Canadian Bar Association held a series of evaluation meetings with lawyers within the framework of the preparation of The Tomorrow’s Lawyer Initiative.
On 25 May 2016, a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project was held. The partners outlined the progress in the project implementation and approved its work plan until March 2017.
On 24 May 2016, the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko, the Minister of Education and Science Liliia Hrynevych and the Director of the Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project Larissa Bezo met with law students who graduated from higher educational institutions and were about to start their career.
On 27 April 2016, during a briefing at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, the management of the Ministry of Justice, the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision and international partners discussed details of holding a competition for the selection of candidates to fill the vacancies of the heads of legal aid bureaus, who, starting from 1 September, will begin their work throughout Ukraine within the framework of the expansion of the legal aid system.
A year ago, the QALA project supported the initiative of Larysa Denysenko, human rights activist, writer and host on Hromadske Radio, and the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision in the creation of a program on free legal aid and access to justice in Ukraine.
