The Ministry of Justice invites lawyers to participate in the competition for the positions of the heads of legal aid bureaus

On 27 April 2016, during a briefing at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, the management of the Ministry of Justice, the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision and international partners discussed details of holding a competition for the selection of candidates to fill the vacancies of the heads of legal aid bureaus, who, starting from 1 September, will begin their work throughout Ukraine within the framework of the expansion of the legal aid system.

The representatives of the LA system studied Canadian practices of effective communication and partnership building in rendering services to communities

How communications are organized in public organizations providing legal services in communities? how to build communications in strategic perspective, and what are performance indicators of such communications; what are the approaches to building relationships with partner legal service providers – these issues were studied by experts of the LA system within the framework of a study mission to Canada, on July 11 – 15, with the support of the project Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine. This study visit is another event supported by the project, aimed at strengthening the communication direction of work, as well as the development of strategic planning in the system of legal aid in Ukraine.

Project report on the operation of the system of LA (legal aid) in 2016 was published with the project support

The Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision publicly reports to the Ukrainian people and all partners on the functioning of the system of free legal aid in Ukraine in 2016. With the support of the project Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine, 4,000 copies of the report were prepared and published, to be sent to all centres for secondary legal aid provision (SLA) in Ukraine.

On 16 and 17 February, with the support of the Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project and the International Renaissance Foundation, the capital hosted a constituent meeting between the winning organizations of the “Integration of Primary and Secondary Legal Aid at the Level of Territorial Communities” grant competition.

“No wrong door policy”, or what is important for strategic planning of institutions dealing with the provision of LA

On April 19-21, 2016, with the support of the project Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine took place a mission of Canadian experts of Legal Aid Ontario, in the framework of which a number of meetings and expert discussions with the representatives of the legal aid system team, the Coordination Centre and Secondary Legal Aid Centres, took place.
