“No wrong door policy”, or what is important for strategic planning of institutions dealing with the provision of LA

On April 19-21, 2016, with the support of the project Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine took place a mission of Canadian experts of Legal Aid Ontario, in the framework of which a number of meetings and expert discussions with the representatives of the legal aid system team, the Coordination Centre and Secondary Legal Aid Centres, took place.

According to the results of the competition “Integration of Primary and Secondary Legal Aid at the Level of Territorial Communities” it is recommended to support 36 grant projects

The results of the second stage of the competition “Integration of Primary and Secondary Legal Aid at the Level of Territorial Communities”, conducted by Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project jointly with the International Renaissance Foundation under the auspices of the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision, were summed up.

With the support of the project, a training was held for heads of frontline client service sections and heads of departments on access to FSLA at regional and local FSLA centers

A three-day training session was held in Kyiv for the heads of departments on FSLA organization of the regional centers and  frontline client service sections of local FSLA centers, organized with the support of the Canadian-Ukrainian Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project and the International Renaissance Foundation.

Prior to the creation of Legal Aid Ontario, what legal aid services were available to vulnerable low-income Ontarians and how did the system gradually evolve? Those unable to afford legal counsel relied primarily on volunteer lawyers offering their services directly, through charities or via their Law Society.

Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project, implemented by the Canadian Bureau for International Education with the support of the Government of Canada, jointly with the Human Rights and Justice Program Initiative of the International Renaissance Foundation announce a competition of projects on “Integration of Primary and Secondary Legal Aid at the Level of Territorial Communities”.
