On October 19-22, a meeting of the working group on improving legislation in the field of LA, including changes to the core Law, was held in Kyiv.
Participants of the working group included representatives of the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision: acting Oleksiy Boniuk, First Deputy Director Myroslav Lavrinok, Deputy Directors Serhiy Trotsenko and Oleksandr Baranov, Head of the Department for Legal Analysis and Examination Hanna Meredova, Head of the Department for Ensuring Quality Legal Aid Viktoriia Mitko, Head of the Department for Ensuring Access to Legal Aid Olena Sinchuk, and Head of the Department “Odesa Interregional Resource and Communication Platform” Iryna Bondarenko; Directors of regional and local FSLA centres: Oksana Vasyliaka (regional centre in Kyiv), Oleksandr Herbeda (regional centre in Zhytomyr region), Svitlana Klishyna (regional centre in Odesa region), Pavlo Nalyvaiko (regional centre in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions), Serhiy Lysak (Kamianka local centre), Mykola Pavliuk (Sarny local centre).
A draft of the law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine On Legal Aid” is expected to be developed as a result of the working group activities, to be further approved at a Government meeting according to the preliminary plan of the law-drafting for 2017.
