With the support of the Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project, experts from the NGO “Medical Project Center” have developed booklets on the most pressing issues related to the protection of human rights in the health sector.
The protection of rights in health care includes, among other things, those question, the answers to which are sought by people every day in the legal aid centers and bureaus throughout Ukraine.
In order to support the building of legal awareness in the system of free legal aid, as well as to promote the provision of high-quality legal information and consultations to clients of free secondary legal aid (FSLA) centers, information booklets were prepared and published on such relevant topics as:
- “Safe blood donation”, which tells, among other things, about the rights guaranteed by the state and the benefits of blood donors, as well as the responsibilities of donors and blood transfusion facilities.
- “Right to rehabilitation in sanatorium and resort facilities”, where one can find out who has the right to rehabilitation, as well as the possibilities of free rehabilitation.
- “Psychological aid and psychological rehab for the participants of the ATO and the revolution of dignity”, telling about what such assistance is, where to apply for it and what is required therefore.
There were 168,300 booklets printed in total. All of them, with the support of the Project, will be soon sent to еру legal aid centers and bureaus for distribution.
Also, the booklets will be distributed by experts of the Medical Project Center among rehabilitation centers and blood centers.
In addition, in cooperation with the Medical Project Center, with the support of the Project, a number of consultations have also been developed for WikiLegalAid help and information platform of legal advice.
These consultations reveal important health topics such as: application of the national essential drug list, the right to effective anaesthetics of palliative patients, establishment of a connection between vaccination and human death in the health care system, the right to informed consent for the provision of medical care, call for emergency medical aid, the right to use international treatment protocols.
We hope that these initiatives will help professionals of the system of free legal aid to provide clients with quality legal information and advice on the protection of rights in the health care sector.
NB! If the legal aid centers and bureaus in the regions, as well as other organizations interested in obtaining the above-mentioned booklets, need more of them, additional copies can be printed.
