
On 29-31 July, a training session on building strategic capacity and developing public communication skills was held for the team of the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision.
During a three-day session, representatives of the Coordination Center team jointly analysed the work of the LA system at the current development stage, discussed the opportunities and risks of the system’s further development, priorities, new approaches and challenges in the work under conditions of expanding access to the LA in connection with the opening of the legal aid bureaus on 1 September 1 this year.
Among the main issues discussed there were the mission and the vision of the LA system, changes in work requiring attention, especially towards the achievement of the vision with regard to the system development, i.e. the expansion of access to quality legal aid and the development of legal capacities of communities. In addition, the participants also paid attention to the system’s values, that served as a benchmark for the arrangement of activities, delivery of services and system development. In particular, they focused on such values as customer orientation, trust, partnership, transparency, independence and innovation.
Several training sessions were devoted to the issues of internal communication, communication during the implementation of changes, including the importance of engaging both system employees and partners. The third day of the training was devoted to improving the skills of public communication, including public speaking and work with media. Among other things, the participants had the opportunity to outline the aspects of communication important for the preparation of regional inception workshops for the heads of legal aid bureaus scheduled for August.
In addition, the training gave a powerful impetus for strengthening teamwork and its cohesion, orientation at a common vision of further system development.
The trainers who worked with the team of the Coordination Center were Ivanna Ibragimova, Team Leader of the QALA Project, and Oleksandra Tselishcheva, expert of the project, as well as Tetiana Troshchynska, journalist, host on Hromadske Radio and specialist in media communication and interaction.
